A Barbados native and computer science graduate from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, Andrew Marshall decided to attend Meharry after a health incident with his father pointed him toward the medical profession.
Meharry Medical College was established after the Civil War with the mission of educating African Americans to serve the underserved.
Founded in 1876, Meharry Medical College is the nation's largest private, independent historically black academic health center dedicated to educating minority and other health professionals.
