25th Annual W.F.B. James, M.D. Symposium, Friday, April 12

Meharry Medical College's 25th Annual W.F.B. James, M.D. Symposium will be held Friday, April 12, 2013 at the S.S. Kresge Learning Resource Center (LRC), sponsored by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

This popular yearly conference spotlights emerging advances in women's health and is part of a series of educational opportunities for the greater Nashville community. The day's events begin at 7:30 a.m. and feature a number of experts in women's health, including former OB/GYN chair Dr. Gloria Richard-Davis, featured speaker on the topic of menopause.

This year's theme, "Crossroads in Women's Health: Implications for Women over 50—The New 30s," examines the importance of good health maintenance, effective medical care, and the battle in health care to give women higher quality of life through research and treatment.

Also included as symposium events—and also held at the LRC—are Thursday's tenth annual Research Symposium (April 11); and Friday's fourth annual Nurse Education Program and Second Annual Community Forum (April 12).

Other popular activities include the sixth annual Henry W. Foster M.D. Golf Tournament, Saturday, April 13, at Hermitage Golf Course (click here for registration information) with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Registration is $125 per individual golfer or $500 per team. Proceeds from the golf tournament benefit the department's residency education program.

The Nashville community is invited to attend any or all of the no-cost events. For more information on all events, click here.
