Meharry Medical College Elects Bishop Joseph Walker III To The Board Of Trustees

Meharry Medical College announced today that Bishop Joseph Walker III has been elected to the Board of Trustees.

He will serve as an active member of the board which governs the historic academic health science center known for educating and training a significant number of African American and other minority health professionals, particularly primary care physicians.

About Bishop Walker

Bishop Walker is the Pastor of the 30,000-plus-member Mt. Zion Church and the International Presiding Bishop of Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, which consists of hundreds of churches across the globe and a membership of millions that are connected together by common theologies of the church experience.  He is married to the former Dr. Stephaine Hale, MD, MPH, who is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Neonatology at Vanderbilt University.

Bishop Walker received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a Master of Divinity degree from Vanderbilt University and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. He serves on the Citizens Bank and American Red Cross Board of Trustees respectively.   He holds 2 honorary Doctorates from Meharry Medical College and Southern University respectively.  He is also a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Kappa Kappa Psi Band Fraternity.
