H. James Dallas Elected to Meharry Board of Trustees
(Nashville, Tenn.) – (May 29, 2012) – The Meharry Medical College Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the election of H. James Dallas, Senior Vice President, Quality and Operations for Medtronic, Inc., to the Meharry Board of Trustees, effective July 1, 2012.
Dallas, who serves as a member of the executive management team at Medtronic, a Minneapolis, Minnesota based global leader in medical technology ranked 164th on the Fortune 500 listing with revenues of $16 billion, is responsible for executing cross-business initiatives that maximize Medtronic's global operating leverage. He joined Medtronic in April 2006 as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, responsible for leading the information technology (IT) organization and developing and implementing IT strategies on a global basis.
Previously, Dallas was Vice President and CIO at Georgia Pacific where he held a series of progressively responsible IT positions during his 22-year career.

Jones Jr., Chair of the Board of Trustees who presided over the spring meeting of the Board during which Mr. Dallas was elected.
Incoming Board Chair and Meharry Alumnus, Dr. Frank S. Royal Sr., joined Mr. Jones by adding that "Mr. Dallas is an esteemed leader with significant corporate management and leadership experience in banking, information technology, operations and the medical technology arena. He brings a broad perspective that will greatly assist Meharry in continuing to reach new heights and we are pleased and thrilled to welcome him to our board."
Dallas earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina-Aiken and the MBA from Emory University's Goizueta Business School. He serves as a board member at KeyCorp, the parent company of Cleveland, Ohio-based KeyBank and is also a board member of the YMCA-Greater Saint Paul and Metropolitan Minneapolis. Meharry Medical College has 33 members on its Board of Trustees including President Riley. They represent several industries and professions including higher education, business, banking, clergy, law, medicine and dentistry.
