Meharry's Counseling Services are under the leadership of Dr. Rhonda Cunningham-Burley.  With the assistance of Student Counselor, Dr. Sharda Mishra, this department assists students with the balance of professional studies and personal issues.  

The Counseling Center is a place where Meharrians may come to obtain counseling services offered by Professional Health Service Providers.

The Counseling Center has continued to serve an increased diversity of students with an increased expansion of services to meet these needs. These have included

Counseling Center staff are involved daily in individual counseling sessions with students, ranging from students in the first year of professional studies through residency training.

The Counseling Center is increasingly recognized as a place for assistance to students with respect to a multiple of needs. This has especially occurred in the light of the diminished capabilities within student services to accommodate academic support needs as preexisted.

The Counseling Center has expanded its network of psychiatric service providers outside of the campus site.

Counseling Center staff have taken cognizance of legislation taking place regarding the Higher Education Act

The Counseling Center has enhanced arrangements with Meharry's pre-professional training initiatives, e.g., in the pre-baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate programs.
