Student Life is committed to developing and maintaining a diverse and supportive environment that fosters the personal and academic growth of students. The efforts of our office are devoted to helping students to adjust to the professional school environment. The pursuit of this mission has necessitated our involvement in an array of student services such as:
* Campus Tours * Housing Assistance * Recreation
* Student Organizations * Community Involvement
Meharry students have the opportunity to develop and participate in community involvement and social and cultural activities. Some of the recent activities include mentoring programs, black history activities, Christmas Angel Tree, Pre-Alumni Ball, Men Who Cook, and a Greek Showcase.
There are also a variety of service, social, and special interest student organizations available at Meharry. They include: Pre-Alumni Counsel, Hispanic Student Organization, Student National Medical Association, Student National Dental Association, American Medical Student Association, Ewell Neil Dental Society, African-Caribbean Club, Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi.

Campus Tours can be scheduled for groups of six or more between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday - Friday. Individual tours of five or fewer can be scheduled only on Fridays at 10 a.m. OR 3 p.m. Tours normally last an hour and a half. To schedule your tour, please call our Student Life Department at (615) 327-6223 or email your request to campustours@mmc.edu. Visit our Campus Tours page for more information about tours. Housing Assistance is available before and after a student arrives at Meharry Medical College. Admitted students usually receive a packet from the Admissions Office with information about on-campus and off campus housing. Please contact Meharry Properties if you are a new or returning student for information regarding on-campus housing at (615) 327-5751. Below are a few links that may be helpful in search for housing in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area:
Recreation is that change of pace that keeps the stress level manageable. Intramural sports are an important part of the social agenda at Meharry. Softball and basketball are the two official intramural sports at Meharry. However, other activities help keep student life interesting and fun. Visit the Ross Fitness Center website for more information about recreation.
Student Organizations are plentiful at Meharry. Students can choose from more than 40 approved student organizations with more started yearly. The student government organization at Meharry is the Pre-Alumni Association. There are also many professional groups such as the Student National Dental Association, American Student Dental Association, Graduate Student Association, Student National Medical Association, and the American Medical Student Association. For more information on student organizations at Meharry Medical College, please visit the Student Organizations page or go to MMC Campus Groups.
Community Involvement could have no better exemplification than Meharry’s annual Community Day. This day allows students from all schools of the college to come together to provide educational and fun activities for the children and their parents of our urban community. Community Day is usually a part of the National Make a Difference Day activities. Dental screenings, health screenings, and health education are but a few of the many community service opportunities provided by our students.
