The Custodial department is part of the Environmental Services and provides routine cleaning services for most academic and administrative buildings.
The Custodial Department operates from
8-4pm
, Monday thru Friday, with limited coverage over the weekends and on Holidays. Spaces are cleaned on a routine basis and special projects can be requested through the Custodial Services Department by contacting the Campus Operations office at (615) 327-6800 or by placing a work request through the Work Request management system.
Emergencies occurring after hours can be reported to the security department who will liaise with the on call supervisor.
Removal of Hazardous waste is not a function handled by Custodial Services, nor is it included as part of the charges for space utilization. These functions are the responsibility of the individual department with oversight by the Environmental Safety Officer, Al Jones, who may be contacted at (615) 327-6577, Monday-Friday.
Campus Operations is funded by the general operating budget and supports events sponsored by the college during normal business hours. Equipment reservations and all other special event support should be sent in writing to the Campus Operations Office, and can be submitted via hard copy or work order through the Work Request management system.
Requests must be submitted in writing three working days prior to the event. Late requests cannot be guaranteed as the available equipment on hand for normal college function may be already in use supporting other events. In certain circumstances, equipment is rented and these costs are billed back to the requesting department. The event is supported by the delivery of folding tables, chairs, trash cans, etc. during regular hours,
8:00 am to 4:30 p.m.
Events conducted after normal business hours will be charged back to the requesting department.
Moving services are provided by Moveable Properties for such items as furniture, laboratory equipment, boxes, etc. File cabinets and book shelves must be emptied and packed by the customer, as we do no provide packing services. Requests (link to the Work Request management system) for moving must be submitted at least three (3) working days prior to the move and moves are done based on the order in which they are submitted. We do not move items to or from off-campus locations. In the event, items are being donated to the college; management will make the necessary arrangements for pick-up and/or delivery.
Departments need to identify storage space with in their departments. All discarded assets identified for disposal must be approved by the Purchasing Department by contacting Mr. Larry Holden at 615-327-6339 prior to disposal. Disposal of discarded items such as computers, lab equipment, refrigerators, freezers etc. are not covered in the space lease charges and arrangements must be made for the disposal of these items. There may be a charge associated with these disposals.
Contract moving is required when the work is beyond our capability, such as moving of entire offices and specialized equipment. Names and telephone numbers of moving companies are provided upon request.
