HR provides training programs and activities centered on improving individual and organizational performance. All sessions are conducted in the HR Training Room on the 2nd floor of the Henry Moses building, unless otherwise specified.

Calendar
The Training Calendar is located in the Training Portal. You can review course and class descriptions and register for training online.

The Training Portal is only accessible by Meharrians; therefore, you will be prompted for a username and password.

Username: your email address (i.e., jdoe@mmc.edu)
Password: mymmcpassword (same as your network password)
Note: If you have any problems logging in, please contact the Help Desk at 327-4357 (HELP).

Remember, the Training Calendar is always “under construction”. We encourage you to check it often for updates and details.

Employee Development
Our comprehensive employee development series, First Line of Defense: Employment Law Training for Supervisors, develops and enhances a supervisor’s knowledge of the essential dos and don'ts of employment law and the skills to address the 11 legal “hotspots” before a problem arises:

  • Hiring (1 hr)
  • Privacy (1 hr)
  • Wage & Hr Law (2 hrs)
  • Workplace Violence (2 hrs)
  • FMLA/ADA (2 hrs)
  • Workplace Harassment (1 hr)
  • Performance Evaluations (2 hrs)
  • Discipline & Documentation (2 hrs)
  • Discrimination (2 hrs)
  • Employee Termination (1 hr)

Connections and Advanced Connections is our comprehensive, employee development series to develop and enhance the knowledge and skills of all employees in providing the highest level of service excellence to all internal and external customers. The Connections series is for all employees and the Advanced Connections series is for supervisors and management. Non-supervisory and non-management employees may complete the Advance Connections series AFTER completing the Connections series AND obtaining supervisor approval.

Connections series topics:
  • Understanding Why People Do What They Do (1 hr)
  • Using the Language of Positive Communication (1 hr)
  • Meeting and Exceeding Expectations (1 hr)
Advanced Connections series topics:
  • Building a Service Culture (2.5 hrs)
  • Polishing Daily Service Skills (2.5 hrs)
  • Meeting Service Challenges (2.5 hrs)

Sexual Harassment Class
This two (2) hours class is mandatory for all employees and must be completed according to the following timeline:

  • Employees hired after January 1, 2011 must complete this training within 45 days AFTER the end of their 90 days probationary period.
  • Employees hired before January 1, 2011, all other employees must complete this training by the end of the 2011 calendar year.

Power Hours
Power Hour sessions offer a great opportunity for employees to get introduced to a topic or to refresh and rejuvenate. All sessions will run from 11:45am – 12:45pm. Bring your lunch.

Please be sure to register in advance for the session(s) of interest because seating is limited. Some of the session topics include:

  • Feedback
  • Listening
  • Change
  • Ethics
  • Goals
  • Priorities
  • Conflict Management
  • Time Management
  • Valuing Differences
  • Strategies of Teamwork

To receive a certificate of completion for a Power Hour session, you must complete a post training assessment. Within 5-7 days upon receipt of your hardcopy or electronic assessment, you will receive a certificate of completion via campus mail.
