Commencement Volunteer Information


 

The 134th Commencement Ceremony is May 16, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Gaylord Grand Ole Opry House here in Nashville, Tennessee. Below you will find the general information given to our ceremony volunteers. If you would like to serve as a volunteer, please R.S.V.P. to commencement@mmc.edu.

 

Role of Ushers

1. Assist guest in hooder section to their seats
2. Direct VIPs to Reserved section
3. Assist and Direct graduates and hooders on & off stage

What time should you arrive?

1. Ushers should arrive at 7:00 am
2. Ushers should park in the general parking lot

Directions for Parking:

You may park in Lot B and from there it is about a ten-minute walk to the Opry Entertainment Complex. There is no cost to park in this lot.

If you use general mall parking, you will depart from Dave & Buster’s or Regal Cinemas at Opry Mills, it is less than a minute walk to the Opry Entertainment Complex ... just across the street! There is no cost to park in this lot.

Attire

Business Attire (preferred black & white)or Dark Colored Clothing (Navy)

What to do if?

    • Guest is impolite
    • Guest has special request

If you encounter a guest that is impolite or a guest that has a special request (i.e., diabetic, asthmatic) there will be security stationed in each area of the gentry center. The officers on duty have been directed to assist you and will know who to contact in case of an emergency. We will also have Medic One available at the Opry house for the day.

Ushers are asked to arrive at the Opry House by 7:00 am; locations and stations are given at that time.

Badges

Staff badges will be provided when you arrive; badges should be returned once commencement is over.
