Linda D. Sander, Ph.D. Program Director Professor of Medical Education Meharry Medical College lsander@mmc.edu (615) 327-6635 Teaches and coordinates the Medicine and Society course for freshmen medical students and teaches physiology, epidemiology and biostatistics. Her interests include health policy, conflicts of interest in medicine and research and the ethics of animal experimentation.

Carolyn Szetela, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Medical Education Meharry Medical College cszetela@mmc.edu (615) 327-5909 Teaches medical and research ethics across the medical curriculum and is coordinator of the Clinical Elective. Her areas of interest include medical education, disparities in American health, children in medical research, HIV/AIDS, and the prevention of harms due to alcohol and drug misuse. She serves on Nashville General Hospital’s Ethics Committee and Meharry’s Institutional Review Board.

Carol Freund, Ph.D. Assistant Professor Division of Professional Education Meharry Medical College cfreund@mmc.edu (615) 327-6066 Teaches molecular biology and genetics. Her interests include ethical issues relating to patient confidentiality, genetics and research ethics.

Susan DeRiemer, Ph.D. Associate Professor Division of Professional Education Meharry Medical College sderiemer@mmc.edu (615) 327-6050 Deputy Director, Meharry Research Centers in Minority Institutions Program. Teaches embryology and developmental biology. Her interests include cultural diversity, beginning of life issues and research ethics.
