The section of hematology/oncology of the Department of Internal Medicine of Meharry Medical College consists of three faculty supported by an extensive clinical trials office.  The goals of the section are to provide state of the art cancer care while conducting clinical research.  Patients are provided access to national clinical trials from all of the cooperative cancer groups including ECOG, SWOG, NSABP, and the CTSU through the MBCCOP and other trials in conjunction with Vanderbilt University through the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center Affiliates Network (VICCAN).  An experienced staff assures that patients are provided timely, effective, considerate and culturally sensitive care. Through this program, Meharry has been successful in increasing minority accrual to clinical trials
