The Meharry Consortium
Geriatric Education Center

Located at Meharry Medical College, members of the consortium include Meharry Medical College, Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University.  The Center is federally funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Health Professionals.  The primary mandate is to provide medical gerontology education to healthcare professionals serving older adults.

The multidisciplinary core faculty represents medicine, neurology, psychiatry, nursing, health science, dentistry and nutrition.  An advisory board, consisting of representatives from these and other disciplines, helps identify statewide geriatric needs, reviews plans to implement professional geriatric training and monitors effectiveness of training.

Our Mission

To improve the quality of healthcare for the elderly by training those professionals who serve them.
