Mission

The mission of the Department of Physiology is to introduce future health
care providers and biomedical scientists to the structure and function of
the human body, information which will serve as the foundation for all
future education, practice and research endeavors.  As effective teaching
and learning are best achieved in a scholarly environment, the department
also strives to make original contribution to the body of knowledge that
constitutes the foundation of evidence based health care delivery.  The
faculty and staff will also contribute to the continued viability of Meharry
Medical College by service on academic and administrative committees.
