Broken Justice: A True Story of Race, Sex and Revenge in a Boston Courtroom

Dr. Edward R. Hills is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Meharry Medical College. Dr. Hills began received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in 1966 and completed an internship with the United States Air Force Hospital at Andrews Air Force Base.  He returned to Meharry to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  For 33 years, Dr. Hills has served in positions, including:

  • Program Director for the Residency Program – 1982 – 1991
  • Department Chairman – 1998 – 2001
  • Interim Department Chair – 2006 – 2007
  • Program Director – HRSA Sponsored Summer Mentorship Program – 1997 – 2007

Dr. Hills is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His professional affiliations include The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Association of Professors and Gynecology and Obstetrics, and R.F. Boyd Society.

The department acknowledges the many accomplishments of Dr. Edward R. Hills in a recognition dinner on Friday, April 4, 2008.

Dr. Henry W. Foster, Jr., is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Meharry Medical College, Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and immediate past Chair of the U.S. Committee for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

From 1996-2001, he served as Senior Advisor to President Clinton on Teen Pregnancy Reduction and Youth Issues. From 1973-1990, he served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN at Meharry Medical College.

From 1990-1993, he was Dean of the School of Medicine and, beginning in 1993, he served for one year as acting President of the university. Dr. Foster is a recognized national leader in medicine, family planning, and education and has served on the boards of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and The Alan Guttmacher Institute.
