Endodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the biology, pathology, and regeneration of the human dental complex and periradicular tissues, emphasizing the preservation of the healthy natural dentition.

Students are introduced to the technique of endodontic treatment in the sophomore course, with didactic courses provided during the sophomore and junior years. The teaching component demonstrates how endodontics interrelates with the biomedical sciences. Clinical experience is incorporated into the junior and senior years, where the latest concepts of digital radiography and use of the endodontic surgical microscope are integrated into the clinical curriculum. Students learn how to make decisions about treatment based on the application of scientific principles, the highest level of evidence, and clinical experience; treatment delivery is integrated closely with all other health disciplines.
