the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellows

We have 3 Ph.D. graduates who are current fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

  • Ashley Huderson, PhD Class of 2013

These fellowship are highly competitive; graduates of the fellowship work on government, at NIH, Senate, on Policy matters in Washington DC.

F31 fellowship from National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases

LaTayia Aaron, Ph.D. student in the Biochemistry and Cancer Biology program received a new F31 fellowship from National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases for three years; the fellowships amount is $40,417 per year for three years ($121,251 total). The tile of her project is “Obesity and Diabetes as Mediators of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Graduate Summer Opportunity to Advance Research (GSOAR) Program (2016)

Bobby Jones, Microbiology and Immunology Program, was selected to participate in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Graduate Summer Opportunity to Advance Research (GSOAR) Program (2016). This very competitive placement will allow Bobby to further enhance his knowledge in HIV. He will also be able to take advantage of the wonderful professional development opportunities offered by NIH.

25th annual awards reception

On Friday, May 20, 2016, the Meharry Medical College School of Graduate Studies and Research hosted the 25th Annual Awards Reception at Gaylord Springs Golf Course.  Over 150 people were in attendance as faculty presented students with awards.  We are so proud to announce that 4 Ph.D., 23 M.S.P.H.  and 42 M.H.S. students graduated this past weekend at the Grand Ole Opry House. Our students are ready to conquer the world of public health and health sciences in various capacities.  Graduates, families and friends we salute you for this major accomplishment.  Once a Meharrian, always a Meharrian.
