| Research Interests |
Dr. Bhattacharyya’s interests are Cardiac Physiology and Electrophysiology and his primary role is the teaching of Cardiovascular Physiology and Biophysics to medical, dental and graduate students. In the past, Dr. Bhattacharyya studied several Class III antiarrhythmic agents (clofilium, sotalol, aminodarone) on contractile force and action potentials in myocardial tissues from dog and rat as well as potassium channel openers (e.g. diazoxide) in the prevention of digitalis induced arrhythmias in canine Purkinje tissue. The overall intent of these studies was to reveal the molecular mode of action of anti-arrhythmic agents. |
