The primary objective of our laboratory is infection and immunology of uro-genital tract:
a) Virulence mechanism of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) and septicemia.
b) Animal model of gonococcal infection supported by J. Sealy Foundation.
c) Novel diagnostic method for gonococcal PID supported by J. McLauglin Foundation.
d) Novel microbial virulence mechanism of PID and DGI strains of N. gonorrhoeae that bind human complement Clq (part of human defense system) to increase bacterial virulence (survival and attachment).
