Lights, Camera, Music: Meharry Presents "The Bobby Jones Music Matinee"
On January 18, 2015, Grammy-award winning gospel music legend, Dr. Bobby Jones, visited Meharry Medical College to honor the College’s longstanding history of providing health care education, training, and service to the community during a televised taping of “The Bobby Jones Music Matinee.” The program will air on IMPACT Network.
Community supporters poured into The Cal Turner Family Center for Student Education to witness the event, featuring musical acts from Sounds of Grace, Kairos Kreative Ministries, Free Spirit Singers and the Nashville Super Choir.
“I’m excited about saluting Meharry’s contributions being made in the community,” Dr. Jones said. “Many have no idea of the services offered by Meharry, and I’m very happy to make these services known.”
The special honorees acknowledged during the evening were the Meharry Alumni, Meharry 12 South Community Clinic and the Meharry Medical Group. Their dedication to providing quality, compassionate—and often free—primary care services to poor and underserved populations in Nashville and around the world is the common thread that binds these three entities as being deserving of such high honors.
