OUT!Health is Meharry's new student advocacy organization for raising awareness about health disparities related to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI) community. It is also a safe space for any Meharrian that may identify as LGBTQI as well as those allies of any background. If you have a genuine interest in uplifting underserved populations, such as the LGBTQI community, through patient care, research, or volunteerism, then OUT!Health is the organization for you.
To provide a network for the LGBTQQIA community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, and their Allies) to promote health care equality for all individuals regardless of their gender, sex or sexual preference.
- To facilitate educational and social activities which foster a welcoming LGBTQQIA friendly environment.
- Host events and trainings for Meharry Medical College and the larger community.
- To work with the faculty, staff, administration, and students at Meharry to increase awareness surrounding LGBTQQI health care issues, especially regarding disparities in the LGBTQQI community of color.
