2008 SPA HEALTH CONFERENCE FOR DISPARITIES ELIMINATION

Mission

To create an annual opportunity for women from around the country to meet in Nashville to champion the cause to eliminate health disparities particularly in women of color; be pampered and taught in a setting of sisterhood, spirituality, and celebration; and raise-up the legacy of Meharry Medical College by contributing financial support for research.

Summary

The 2008 SPA Conference (Sisters Partnering All-together) is an annual 4-day weekend getaway and retreat presented by two leaders in the health and wellness arena, the Center for Women’s Health Research at Meharry Medical College and Heart & Soul Magazine. It is a retreat for women looking for quality health and wellness information, a pampering and networking experience shared with like-minded women, and a celebration of women for their work performed to eliminate health disparities. The conference will draw over 1,000 women from across the country to Nashville to encounter the rich history of the Meharry Medical College legacy and exposure to the exciting new work that this leading institution for Black physicians and dentists is currently involved.

Conference Schedule

• Thursday eve: Opening night reception
• Friday day: Plenary session, luncheon, expo & workshops
• Friday eve: The Heart & Soul Awards & Bedtime Stories
• Saturday day: Pamper with a purpose (all-day pampering services)
• Saturday day: Adventure Day (Discover Nashville & Meharry)
• Saturday eve: Divas Against Disparities Benefit Concert
• Sunday morning: Grace and Fellowship Brunch  

Cost:

The registration fee for the SPA Conference is $350. There will be two early bird deadlines of April 1 for $250 registration and July 1 first for $300 registration. Registration includes the opening reception, all day and eve Friday events, all day events on Saturday, and the Sunday Brunch. There is an additional fee for those attending the Divas Against Disparities Benefit Concert.
