Mission
- To perform clinical research in underrepresented patient populations in order to accelerate the elimination of health disparities
- To promote standards of excellence in clinical research among Meharry investigators and research personnel
- To foster the development of minority clinical investigators via formal training programs, such as the Masters of Science in Clinical Investigator , workshops , CME programs, and informal mentorship
- To advance the overarching goal of facilitating bench to bedside to community research in line with the implementation of NIH-funded Clinical and Translation Science Award initiatives
Meharry Medical College achieves its clinical research mission via investigator-initiated research supported by Federal funding, and by infrastructure such as our Clinical Research Center, or by pharmaceutical funding, and supported by our Clinical Trials Office ( CTO).
A variety of core facilities beyond those overseen by the CRC also support clinical research, including the Microarray and Bioinformatics Core, the Molecular Biology Core, the Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting ( FACS) facility, Tissue Acquisition , Processing, Histology Core, and the Fluorescence Microscopy and Immunohistochemistry core .
