Tennessee Child Passenger Safety Center

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for children in the U.S., and car seats are a known life-saver.

The Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office has designated Meharry as the administrator of its Tennessee Child Passenger Safety Center. Overseen by certified Child Passenger Safety Instructor, Angela Brown, M.B.A., the program is a state-wide train-the-trainer intervention that teaches law enforcement officers, day care centers, firemen, EMS workers and other groups how to install car seats safely. The Center offers a 32-hour course to certify the officers/attendees as child passenger safety  technicians; it then designates their agency as a child passenger safety fitting station, where families can have their seats inspected for proper fit and installation.

Contact Angela Brown at 1-855-425-1137 or abrown@mmc.edu for more information about the Center's fitting stations and certification course or view our brochure. For additional traffic safety information visit the Tennessee Traffic Safety office.
