The Office for Research is under the direction of the Vice President for Research, Russell E. Poland, Ph.D. Research at Meharry Medical College is key to fulfilling our mission of meeting the health care needs of the underserved and underrepresented. Focused specifically on eliminating health disparities, our researchers are dedicated to uncovering why these disparities exist – whether they are caused by biological, behavioral or social determinants, Medical College is committed to eradicating health disparities through research, education, and patient care. Our research is concentrated in the following key areas: Brain and Behavior, Cancer, Cardiovascular, HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases, Women’s Health, and Community Health.
