| Biography |
Chief Briggance was appointed to the position of Director of Campus Safety and Security on October 11, 2004. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, where he resided before entering military service. Chief Briggance served nine years in the active United States Army as well as 25 years with the Tennessee Army National Guard. He retired from military service with the rank of Command Sergeant Major, in 1998. Chief Briggance served 35 years with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, serving in various command positions and divisions. He retired in 2004 as Assistant Police Chief.
He is a member of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP), National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), National Black Police Officers Association (NBPOA), Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA) and the Middle Tennessee Basketball Officials Association (MTBOA). He has attended numerous Police Schools and has several letters and plaques of commendations and achievements.
Chief Briggance attended Memphis Douglas High School, received an Associates Degree in Police Science from Aquinas College, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management and Human Relations from Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, TN. |
